New head of exploration and geology
Beadell Resources Limited (Beadell or Company) is delighted to announce that Ms Aoife McGrath will join Beadell as Head of Exploration and Geology. Ms McGrath is an experienced mining professional having worked in multiple jurisdictions globally. In her 20 years in the industry she has worked predominantly in gold mining and exploration. Most recently, Ms McGrath spent more than five years with Alamos Gold as Vice President Exploration and prior to that Director of Exploration and Corporate Development.
At Alamos, Ms McGrath built and ran six exploration departments in four countries and managed annual budgets of up to US$36million. During her tenure, exploration ensured that reserves at the flagship Mulatos mine in Mexico remained at 1.8-1.9 million ounces net of 150,000-200,000 ounces annual depletion. This included a significant new discovery at Yaqui Grande (600,000 ounces reserves) at almost double the reserve grade of the existing Mulatos pit. Prior to joining Alamos, Ms McGrath was Executive Director of Exploration at Carbine Resources where she built the exploration team from scratch and directed the initial exploration programs in Burkina Faso. She also worked for Red Back Mining as Exploration Manager of the Chirano Mine in Ghana, where she led the team to the discovery of the Akwaaba Underground Deposit (1 million ounces reserves).
As a Senior Exploration Geologist for AngloGold Ashanti at the Geita Gold Mine in Tanzania, she was closely involved in adding 2.5 million ounces to resources. Ms McGrath holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology from University College Dublin, a Masters of Science in Mineral Exploration from the University of Leicester and a Masters of Science in Engineering Geology from Imperial College London. Ms McGrath will be based in Toronto, Canada, and join Graham Donahue, Head of Corporate Development in Beadell’s Toronto office. Commenting, Simon Jackson, CEO and Managing Director said: “I am delighted that Aoife is joining the Beadell team.
